Kangana Ranaut has taken over the role of director of her ambitious project Manikarnika earlier helmed by south director Krish.
The long in the making film has been one of Kangana’s dream projects both as an actor and a producer. But the film has been mired in controversy in recent times with actor Sonu Sood being ousted from it.
Sonu who had but shot for the film entirely had moved on to his next mega project, Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, a remake of a south film. However, Kangana who was not happy with some of the portions shot by Krish wanted to reshoot the said portion. But with Krish moving on to his next project and Sonu Sood now sporting a beard for Rohit Shetty’s film and which he was not keen to let go, had to make an unceremonial exit from Manikarnika.
Speculations flew about that Sonu Sood was not happy working under a lady director which may not entirely be true as he had earlier let Farah Khan called the shorts for Happy New Year.
Kangana has replaced Sonu Sood with Gangs of Wasseypur fame actor/writer Zeishan Qadri.
But then we all know that controversy and Kangana go hand in hand.
