India is shining at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and adding glamour to the mega event will be three of Bollywood’s most beautiful people – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Hollywood import Freida Pinto who will walk the red carpet this year at the prestigious film festival starting May 15.
The three gorgeous women who are the brand ambassadors for a major cosmetic giant L’Oreal Paris will see them walk the red carpet on different occasions and sporting different era looks that will be representatives of various parts of Indian Cinema’s 100-year old journey that today is making the world sit up and notice Indian films.
L’Oreal Paris has been the official make-up partner for the Cannes Film Festival for the last 16 years and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been representing L’Oreal Paris for the last 12 years. This will be Sonam’s third visit to the coveted event where for the first time, she’d be a part of the opening ceremony. Few would remember that in Sonam’s debut year as L’Oreal Paris brand ambassador at Cannes a couple of years ago, not all was lovey dovey between Sonam and Aishwarya.
This year, however, as 66th Cannes Film Festival is celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema on a grand scale, all seems to be well between the two actresses.
L’Oreal Paris on its part to commemorate 100 years of golden Indian Cinema will release a new line of make-up called L’Or Sunset on the occasion.
On the announcement, Aishwarya said, “It is great to see the Indian film industry being celebrated and honoured on the occasion of its 100th anniversary at an internationally respected platform like the Cannes film festival. This truly signifies the impact made by India on world cinema.”
Meanwhile Sonam Kapoor was more than delighted to be a part of the mega opening ceremony. “This is the first time I will be part of the opening ceremony and I am extremely excited. Cannes is celebrating Indian Cinema this year and I have never been more proud to be a part of this creative industry. I hope that the Bollywood inspired makeup looks we don this year at Cannes will make global style statements,” Sonam said.
