In it’s 7th week run at the box office, Marathi film Duniyadari creates box office record.

What Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara couldn’t do, one small Marathi film Duniyadari managed to do – keep a brave upfront in the face of the big budgeted Bollywood flick Chennai Express.

In its 7th week at the box office, the film has dominated the Marathi film industry box office collection and managed to ward a stiff competition from the Shahrukh Khan starrer Chennai Express successfully.

Till date the domestic box office collection had crossed Rs.70 crores, an unknown phenomenon where regional cinema was concerned.

Duniyadari is a friendship film set in the 70s and talks about friends being there for you through thick and thin.

Produced by Dreaming 24/7 Productions and directed by Sanjay Jadhav, the film released on 19th July and now in it’s 7th week, the film is still raking in the moolah at the box office rewriting a new chapter in the history of Marathi cinema.

Such has been the impact of Marathi Cinema on Bollywood that even ace actor Salman Khan is contemplating making his debut in a Marathi film soon. He will appear in Nishikant Kamat’s (of Force JohnAbraham starrer fame) Lal Bhaari starring Riteish Deshmukh who too makes his debut with this film.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh had already ventured in this stream producing the highly successful Balak Palak. Even Akshay Kumar couldn’t stay away from the lure of the regional cinema and had co-produced the recent released 72 Miles Ek Pravas.

Marathi Cinema is finally seeing a dawn of a new realization.
